Assitej SA continues to keep their promise to develop the art sector and artists that inhabit it in South Africa, especially when it comes to upskilling artists in their career path. Assitej SA hosted a three day workshop training through the SEF project, which is part of Arts4Youth programme.
Sistaboss Academy and Company is one of the implementing partner organization of the SEF (Social Employment Fund) programme in the
North West province. From 7th-9th of November 2023 in Rustenburg at Van Zyl hall Assitej SA brought a three day workshop for its SEF participants on stage management and Set Deisgn. The content of the workshop was an introductory to career paths in the said topics. Two of our artists Tshepang Sesinye and Alvin Bousa aquired a lot of skills in which they were able to produce a stage prototype of our theatre play ‘Born Positive’. The workshop was facilitated by Hailey Chisholm were she taught them safety precautions, lighting, costume and props to create a perfect setting for a theatre play. “The workshop was fun and informative and I can’t wait for the next one” said Alvin who was thrilled to be at the workshop and learn as much as he could. Tshepang who has had interest in stage management was glad to finally recieve formal insight and education on the course as now he can further his interest and perfect his skills.
We would like to express our gratitude to Assitej SA and Hailey for providing an insightful that left the attendees with a lot of excitement and possibilities for the future. At Sistaboss Academy and Company we pride ourselves in engaging with a variety of stakeholders that enable our artists to engage in a variety of skills development, that helps them to aid their artistic work forward.
