A RADICAL MANIFESTATION of RESURRECTION!
By Rev. Kelvin Sauls
With these final spoken words, “Brothers and sisters, Happy Easter! All of us are children of God,” Pope Francis, the first Jesuit Pope from South America, has joined the ancestral cloud of witnesses🙏🏿Though limited by ongoing health challenges, the “People’s Pope” spent his final week of living, Holy Week, engaged in profoundly prophetic, real & radical acts of compassion, social justice & solidarity with the marginalized and excluded, vulnerable and despised.
With limited strength and short on breath, the Holy Father’s final message of audacity, boldness and courage was read with a plea for peace in Gaza, Ukraine, Myanmar, and Congo. He called for aid instead of arms, compassion instead of cruelty. He asked the world not to close its doors to migrants and those in need.
Unapologetically waging #LOVEolution, Pope Francis stood with the dehumanized, demonized, didinherited, and disposable to deliberately catalyze equitable, belonging. He changed church teaching on the death penalty calling it “inadmissible.” Additionally, he called life in prison without parole “a hidden desth penalty. The Holy Father embodied solidarity with and empathy toward the least, the last, and the lowly.
May the Pope’s soul rest in peace and His spirit rise in glory🙌🏿 Moreover, may his power be resurrected in all of us to continue to practice & pursue a vivacious and victorious faith of a radically inclusive and liberative manifestation of audacious resurrection! #LongLiveFrancis
